my life in a box
my life seems so...
cramped lately. well maybe not really cramped, just very busy and too fast... like everything is flying by me. just yesterday it was new year's eve with sparklers and the brand new 2006. now it's the last week of feb!
stress...
has taken a hold... this year is just so hectic at work! i feel the pressure on me to perform constantly, and at that i almost feel inept... unable to deliver what is expected of me. with the stress creativity flounders. when i once was able to think up a simple yet delightful surprise i now struggle. urgh i don't like it. i don't like the way that my work stress is affecting the rest of me.
2 months...
62 days ago seems like just a few weeks ago, and yet so much has happened.. it's been crazy-good, deeply-dippy, nerve-wrecking, spine-tingling, new, exciting, very grounding, awesome in so many ways...
my life in a box...
yay! i'm moving soon! everything is still to be packed... sorted through... everything into a box. i am fortunate enough to have moved in the last 4 years... i have come through with much less to my name. but still there will be much to organise, and not enough time to do it in.
party people...
everywhere! saturday's "tri-party alliance" was a blast, with the celebration of Vicky, Tony, and Daan's bdays. Fun organising behind the scenes beforehand, fun meeting new people, catching up with old, being silly, drinking too much, just letting go... and of course sunday's remorse, with me suffering the worst i have yet from my irresponsibilities. it was fun anyways. thank you darling d for your post-party patience and pampering! and yes, ok, alright... tequila bad! bad! bad!
afrikaaners is plesierig...
i cannot deny daan's influence in my life... with it comes chris chameleon's "ek herhaal jou", a compilation of songs using ingrid jonker's poetry as lyrics. and me making a fool of myself trying to converse! it was quite a shock for me to sit on an evening out, and not be able to actually understand what is being said... i mean i am south african, i thought i knew afrikaans! obviously not. not the modern-day evolution of it with the hidden meanings, slight twisting of words and phrases beyond my reach...
surprises in the mail...
i received a postcard from birmingham! it's a month since it was written, but the excitement at receiving it like that of a birthday dawning!
martin from d2 sent through a cd containing the musical version of war of the worlds that he'd ripped from his dad's old vinyl. thanks martin! although i haven't listened to it yet, it's funky stuff... much better than the tom cruise "schmooze" movie.
till next time...
